STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY LOAD TESTS ON LIFTING EQUIPMENT
SSASI’s complete lift inspection programme on mobile elevated work platforms (MEWP’s) incorporates various NDT methods. These procedures are used to determine the overall condition and structural integrity of the MEWP, as well as determine whether or not the MEWP is safe to operate in a working environment.
The NDT procedures include:
- Visual and operational;
- AC dielectric test;
- Hydraulic oil breakdown test;
- Ultrasonic flaw detection;
- Magnetic particle inspection;
- Liquid dye penetrant inspection;
- Acoustic Emission monitored load test in compliance with the OHSA, DMR 18 requirements
